So November is almost on its way out and the last month of the year is knocking on our doorsteps. It sometimes feels where did the months go though each one had its own trials and tribulations? So, it is time to take stock of November in another one of my gratitude posts.
November is a special month for me as it is my birthday month. 🙂 And the month did start off with a bang. After Diwali celebrations, the family pulled out all stops to make the day beautiful. What would we be without our families? Always, always grateful for them. A special mention of my mother-in-law who went and bought me a wonderful cake and tried her best to make the day lovely for me. The kids managed to pull off a surprise by buying me a gift. The message said, “To the best mom in the world!” Always heartening to hear that especially when one of them is a teen. 😉
The husband and I went out for dinner just the two of us much to the chagrin of the kids. Overall a beautiful day spent amid lovely wishes, phone calls and love.

It was a month when we were hit by a hugely impactful decision — demonetization. Suddenly money is the only topic we discuss followed by queues. Of course, Trump also became US President which came as quite a shocker. But let me not dwell too much on that. It was a decision of the American people. God bless them.
Demonetization, well we will continue to see what its impact is as time goes by. Grateful that I live in a big city where I can get by with minimal cash. Also grateful for the little gestures, I saw among people to help each other out. Never give up on the power of good and community.
November was also a month when I had many niggles healthwise. Two strong allergy and fever attacks one after another. That took the wind out of my sails. The family rallied around to help me get better and so did the colleagues. I also had a nasty fall in the bathroom and I gratefully thanked all the strength training I do for preventing any major injuries. I had another episode of minor food poisoning. But grateful to my body for bouncing back each time. My exercise routine has been irregular due to all the illnesses and I am hoping that it will be totally back on track in December.
Had long chats with a few close friends. Always such a lifter of spirits. Also unfollowed/unfriended a few people on my social media profiles. My happiness first is the philosophy I follow these days. That bring me to the question — Do you believe in outgrowing people? I do. Sometimes, we start off with different expectations which don’t materialize along the way. It’s best to move on without remorse. Not all relationships are meant to be. I am grateful for the experience and wisdom to handle this well and not fret over change.
I am grateful for all the lovely vegetables that the husband grows. There is something therapeutic about greenery. I am by no means a gardener. But I do love flowers especially of the heady perfume kinds. So this month, I picked up the shovel (damn it is heavy!) and planted a few seeds. Eagerly watering the pots and waiting for them to flower. I am grateful to have a small patch of land and space to indulge in creating some green.
Finally, I am grateful for my Coco. Every month. Always. There is not a stress in the world that does not go away when he is near me. Always ready with a comforting hug and eager ears to listen to whatever I rant about. His bright eyes and wagging tail never fail to bring a smile to my face. How fortunate and eternally grateful I am to have him as my son.
On that emotional note, here’s wishing everyone a happy December.
