Summer holidays commenced almost by the 3rd week of March for the kids. Weather changed dramatically from being quite chilly to pretty hot these days. It is also humid, and along with frequent showers, cold fluids, lots of curd, ice creams, we yearn for some showers. My maid is on leave due to her daughter’s delivery. There is a substitute in place. Now, one cannot be too strict with the substitutes, or they will just stop coming. So, tolerate what she does and count the days till my regular maid will be back. The workload of household work has increased because this maid just does the bare minimum work.
This time both Sid and Gautam are enrolled in summer camps. Try working from home when two kids are at home! So, Sid goes for badminton training, and Gautam is in a camp that does fun activities. Both the places are within a 2-km radius from home, but their timings being different there are 3 pick ups and drops to be done. I do two of them whereas hubby does one. I just hate driving on Bannerghatta Road — the traffic is bad, there are terrible jams and sometimes it takes me more than 30 minutes to crawl for 2 kms. The road has obscene speed breakers or humps, as they are called here ( car breakers or bone breakers would be a more apt term) that just come into view suddenly. Then, there are buses and lorries that think that both sides of the lane are meant for them. Adding to the woes, the genuine increase in the number of cars on the road, and the drive is a damn pain. I don’t know if the stress on the road each day is worth sending them to these camps. The only saving grace — both of them are enjoying their activities.
Coco, my dog, is 11 months old now and such a good boy. Always ready to give a hug, he otherwise does not trouble us much. He is used to a routine and seems to be doing well in that. A happy cheerful person to be around! Now, I am planning for a vacation in May, so a lot of research, bookings and reading through customer reviews is on. It is quite stressful planning a holiday, I tell you :). Both Sid and Gautam need their passports renewed so some form filling, submissions and appointments to be taken there. I have a list of other things that I need to get done in the month of May. Phew!!
Holidays — sure for kids. For us, it is work as usual rather more than usual :).
