This is a very special guest blog post. This post is the first post written by my 9-year-old son, Siddharth. He has been pestering me for a while to create his own blog and finally I did. To give him a headstart, I requested him to do one guest blog post for my blog, and he readily agreed :). This is his short and sweet post. I have strictly copy-pasted it and have done no corrections at all.

Dussera holidays

I am glad that now I don’t have to wake up at 6:45 every weekday of your life. And that you can just sit in one place doing something and just enjoy. The thing I am looking forward to is playing my favorite video game on my Nintendo DS (for those who don’t what a Nintendo DS is, it is a thing on which you play video games). The thing, which is the most boring aspect, is I have got tonnes of homework and I envy my friend in seventh standard, who has none.

Even though I get a lot of homework. Vacations are always fun.

Sid, while i was of your age I too hated homework, and I too loved holidays. In our time we did not have video games, TV etc., we just used to play chor-police, gilli danda, cricket, antaskhri, Train train, or bus bus, Snake and ladder, and many such games.During holidays we would always go to our grand parents house, where other cousins too would come from wherever they were staying and we would make so much noise. It used to be real fun.I am glad that despite your homework you are finding fun things to do.Now you also have a puppy, who i am sure is real fun to play with.

@A Thank you for your encouraging words both here and at his blog. Oh yes, he loves to write. He has so many ideas in his head. And, since he read “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” he wishes to write a journal :). The only thing I discourage is spending too much time on the computer. @rama So true! I remember rushing to my nana’s house for every vacation, but these trips happen only once a year these days. But, Sid and Gautam love cycling, playing in the park. Sid especially enjoys games like TT, badminton and chess. And, these days, I have given him chores like watering the plants, getting things from the neighborhood shop which is at the gate of the community and also reading to his brother :). He is reading every comment and enjoying it.@NRIGirl Thanks so much on his behalf. He looks forward to more friends.@Tomz Thanks! I am also curious to see how it goes for him :). Whether it fizzles out as a phase or he can sustain it.@Shilpa Thanks! He is enjoying his vacation, especially the waking up late part :).

@Harman Thanks and so true. Small little problems and angsts of childhood. So cute to read. He has a mind of his own, this boy :).@Bhagyashree Thanks! Oh yes, waking up late is so much fun. But, he wants to do so many things — both him and his brother that I have actually planned activities for them this vacation that keep them suitably engaged.@Renu Thank you so much :).

@Vijay Thanks so much! That is such an amazing observation. You are right, at his age, even I had no clue about how to correctly use punctuation. @Basil Thanks so much! I know, it feels awesome. It would be some of his childhood memories chronicled in his own words.

@Sid :That was such a sweet post Sid. Hope you enjoy all the things you want to do and also complete your homework. I posted a comment on your blog too!@Rachna: In our days we encouraged the kids to keep a diary and today mums start a blog for their kids! 🙂 I am sorry to post both the comments in one form but the WV is a little time consuming, hope you don’t mind 🙂

@Renu Thank you mausi :).@cybernag.in Not a problem. At least I don’t have WV. I find it irritating, and now google has its own spam mechanism so makes no sense. I actually told him to write a diary but when mom writes a blog, how can sonny boy be convinced to be happy with pen and paper ? :).

It’s very amazing that a boy choses to blog at such a young age. That means you discuss your blog openly at home so much so he got passionate about it? Its great to see boys taking interest in writing. I thought usually girls do that

@Vani Thank you! Yes, I do discuss my blog at home. My son knows the URL and sometimes even visits my blog though not regularly :). I see a lot of my interests spilling over into him — reading and writing. I actually feel very proud that he wants to write to share his thoughts because he has a lot to share :).
