1. The natural smell of a baby’s skin, Polo for men and Elizabeth Arden’s 5th Avenue for women.
  2. The earthy smell after the first rain showers… amazing!
  3. Food smells — frying garlic, frying onions, the smell of any of my favorite foods, citrus smells, vanilla, cookies baking…
  4. The heady aromas of certain flowers — mogra or jasmine, raat ki rani (queen of the night), roses…
  5. The fresh smell of crisp, freshly washed linen, bedsheets, pillow covers, starched cottons..

Just love these amazing aromas. What are your favorite ones?

Our perception of fragrance mostly depends on the mood.Have you seen” Perfume, the story of a murderer” or read the same book?

Many of yours are my choice too. But as far as I am concerned, my fav smell is the smell of a Nishagandhi flower. The reason is described here in my post ‘The Fragrance of Love’http://myvanitymoments.blogspot.com/2010/05/fragrance-of-love.html

@Agnes Smell of your cat — warm fur, I guess!@Dr. Antony Yes, you are right there. And, sure I am always looking for a good read. I will add this book to my reading list.@Chandrika :)@rohini Oh yes, new books — that’s a great smell. I also remember how excited I used to be with the new text books and notebooks during school. There are so many wonderful things, which we now recall fondly :).

Mine is Mogra. I’ve gone to an some extent in getting that..that I’ve collected a few varieties of Jasmines, climbing and non, but, I’m still waiting on them to flower sufficiently. Last winter, the Raat ki Rani flowered well and its the first time I got to feel that intense smell.

@Gayatri Even, we have a small mogra plant, and it is flowering these days. Even a single flower has an intense burst of fragrance. Raat ki rani — I’ve to source that one.@girish Oh no, you are not crazy. I love the smell of new novels and books just like rohini mentioned. Mom’s food — always yummy. Thanks for giving me a heads up about the movie :).@Ramesh BKChowla sir is always ahead of others 🙂

I like this simple post, which by virtue of imagination brought up pleasant scents to mind 🙂
I like the scent of a desert after rain, morning sea, fresh herbs, sliced cucumber and lemon, old book, rail roads, and last but not least – the scent of a man I’m in love with 🙂

All lovely scents there, Iliana. The scent of the man you love is very potent. It lingers even when he isn’t around.
