Shiv Sena — mindless politics?

After BJP, it seems that Shiv Sena is on the path of self destruction. Even their alliance partners have distanced themselves from their stance. First, they have a misplaced view of not letting the Australian and Pakistani players play in Mumbai. Because, Australians are beating up Indians in Australia and because of 26/11 attacks orchestrated in Pakistan. Okay, now the first argument is hilarious, because they do not have any respect for their fellow Indians. A party which came up on the platform of its rant against South Indians in the ’60s and has been trailing its guns on the North Indians since the last decade; they beat up fellow Indians in the name of Marathi in Mumbai and talk about Indianness?? About Pakistani players, since when have Shiv Sena started dictating our sporting decisions? I am extremely pleased with the tough stances taken both by the Home Minister PC and by Rahul Gandhi, who put their face in muck during his popular Mumbai visit recently.

Now, about Shah Rukh Khan. An innocent statement made by him about letting Pakistani players play in IPL was twisted and allegations about his not being an Indian were hurled? Thankfully, he has not taken the route of apologising or bending just because his movie is up for release. Seriously, till which time can we allow these politicians to get away with their divisive agendas? It angers me that a respected Indian Muslim is questioned about his integrity and his Indianness just because he utters something about allowing Pak players to play or because he is a Muslim.

If anything, Sena has managed to alienate those it portrays to be safeguarding, by attacking Shah Rukh.

The worst players in this scenario are: the Congress government which is incompetent and has never known how to handle with a heavy hand any hoodlum tactics first of Raj Thackeray’s MNS and now of Shiv Sena. In the bargain, they have created serious law and order problems for their citizens and emboldened MNS and Sena. And, Mr. Sharad Pawar who seriously bungled the Agriculture Ministry for so long and prefers to put more time and energy into his role of the BCCI head for obvious monetary reasons. Shamefully, he went to Shiv Sena to ask them to let the Aussies play in Mumbai. Why? Mumbai is Sena’s jagir or what? If people in the current government go grovelling to so-called extra constitutional authorities, then I wonder what message is there in it for all of us commoners?

It is seriously a cause for concern when these events keep happening again and again in the Indian scenario!

    First thing first for Shah Rukh Khan. An innocent statement made by him .. Neither He is not innocent nor his comment. He wanted to highlight his film using some controversy and he did quite well…Well, political parties will always do this thing but in this they are cutting there own roots..MNS is eating up Shivsena in the same way as ShivSena ate BJP And in all this Congress is taking Advantage but even they do not want to miss the fun so they keep on raising the North Indian issue again and againShrewd Politicians!!!!

    @Bhupesh You seem to be pretty angry too:)I do agree that all sorts of promotional gimmicks happen before the launch of a movie, but this quote of SRK happened during a show on NDTV. I don’t think, he would jeopardized his own movie by inviting a ban. Also, he would have promptly apologized had it been a publicity stunt, but he did not.Political parties are stooping lower and lower with each passing day, and yes, Congress is playing pretty dangerous games. It frustrates me that we have to put up with such goondaism especially the common man.

    Yes parties are falling lower and lower. Evrytime something happens I think, they cant fall any lower but then then extend their limits..Is there any party capable of leading India, I wonder

    @Bhagyashree I feel the same despair every time such episodes happen and we are unable to do anything. When it comes to parties, it is a choice between the devil and the deep sea, sadly.
