The story goes like this. Ranbir Kapoor ( Harpreet Singh) passes out with very low marks from college and has the tough task of applying for jobs. He zeroes in on Sales. He goes for an interview to a computer selling company. The whole office setup is true to life and hilarious. The punches or phatte are hilarious and very witty. His induction tour by the very mean, street smart team lead is very funny. The receptionist is played very ably by Gauhar Khan. The chaiwala, the porn-loving technical guy and the to-begin with good boss who turns cut throat are all very well-etched characters. Prem Chopra as Ranbir’s grandfather is very endearing too. The difficulties he faces in his work as a salesman – the bribing, office politics, meanness of colleagues is very well portrayed. How he begins his own operation with his motley bunch and the ups and downs he faces is what the movie is about. The cast and each character is exceptionally good. Ranbir is outstanding and has developed into a wonderful performer with the right mix of fun and maturity in his work. The story by Jaideep Sahni is the real winner. The dialogues are funny, witty and hard hitting. There are no songs to distract and the heroine is a dampener. No wonder the scenes with her are kept to the minimum. The film has a great message, something we all can associate with but luckily it is conveyed with a lot of fun and humor and not in a serious or preachy manner.
I think working honestly and not bending to corruption is not far-fetched and definitely achievable – the only thing needed is the belief in one’s convictions and loads of effort.
A very well made movie and a must watch according to me.
